Canvas: John Lennon

Picture
We were asked to paint in a canvas someone that has an importance for us in our lives. I had a lot of person to choose from but I decided to do John Lennon. I did the painting of him because I love his music and belief that what he does is really important for me. Music is the art form that I most like and John Lennon is a great singer that survived many things in all his life. He had to go trough many terrible things in his life because he wasn't from a great family. John Lennon is an ikon for me that represents how people can have a great future if the propose to have it. He is the hope and the hard work that everyone needs to go trough to have exist in life.
It was a very hard project for me starting on choosing the correct character to paint. I had to draw the character in the canvas just from looking at the small picture that I had. It was really challenging. Also i was asked to do at least five shadings in my painting so I had to differentiate all the shades. When that was done, I had to mix the colors so that they are the shades that I needed. After all that was done, I started painting and finally finished the canvas after a long time and hard work.

Free sketch: Sitting alone. Well, never lonely

Picture
This sketch was topic-free so i decided to do this shadow of a person fishing on a pond. I got inspired in the book and movie Huckleberry Fin because that was one of the images I had while reading the book. I draw it in pencil because I like it more that way. I think that the details and the basic drawing is clearer and much more perfect when it is made with pencil. I made the person black so there will be a shadow and that expresses the time of day and the light that is in the drawing.
I decided to write a phrase over the drawing that  demonstrates what I think of while looking at the drawing. The phrase is, "Sitting alone, well never lonely."   When you see the man of the drawing he looks lonely because there is no one around him. What I wanted to show with the drawing is that you don't need someone by your side to feel good because if you are happy, then there is no need to be lonely. The man of the picture is completely happy and so doesn't feel lonely.

Free sketch: You never know...

Picture
I did this drawing as a free sketch for the class. There is a little teddy bear in a table that pushes a bottle of something. everything is made with pencil but the substance that comes out of the bottle is done with color pencil. The colors that are going out of the bottle are strange and in a way demonstrate the magic and the imaginary things that are present in the bottle. Also in the bottle tag there are two question marks that are there to show everyone that the substance inside is not normal.
At the top of the drawing there is a phrase that says, "You never know..." I decided to add that phrase so that the drawing would be more clear and easy to understand. The bear represents the innocence of the kids and childhood while the bottle represents adulthood. Bothe things together with the table are a symbol of life itself. Ass the bear reaches to catch the bottle, the bottle falls off the table. The phrase is saying that the childhood is not as innocent as it used to be, but the drawing also shows that the kids can't be adults yet even if they try to. All together it shows the actual society.
